Cowboys put Trevon Diggs, DeMarvion Overshown on PUP list

July 21 - Cornerback Trevon Diggs and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown were among the players placed on the active/physically unable to perform list by the Dallas Cowboys on Monday. Both players are still recovering from knee surgeries, Overshown in December and Diggs in January. Neither was expected to be ready for the start of the season and it's unclear if Overshown will play at all in 2025. The Cowboys also placed CB Josh Butler on the PUP list and rookie CB Shavon Revel on the Non-Football Injury list. Butler and Revel are also recovering from torn ACLs. The injury ended Revel's final season at East Carolina. Overshown underwent surgery to repair three ligaments in his right knee. He tore the anterior cruciate ligament, the medial collateral ligament and the posterior cruciate ligament in the Cowboys' Week 14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Diggs missed six of the last seven games last season with a left knee injury and was eventually moved to injured reserve. The surgery he needed was a chondral tissue graft procedure, which the Cowboys' website said "requires considerable time from the initial injury." Diggs, 26, recorded two interceptions and 42 tackles in 11 starts in 2024. His injury was to the same knee in which he sustained a torn ACL in practice two games into the 2023 season. In 58 career games (57 starts) since Dallas drafted Diggs in the second round in 2020, he has recorded 20 interceptions, 63 passes defensed, 215 tackles, one sack and two forced fumbles. He is a two-time Pro Bowler and was named first-team All-Pro in 2021, when he led the league with 11 picks (two returned for touchdowns). Overshown, 24, was having a breakout campaign in 2024. The 2023 third-round pick recorded 90 tackles (56 solo), eight tackles for loss, five sacks, a fumble recovery and a pick-six in 13 games (12 starts). At the time of his surgery, then head coach Mike McCarthy said it was likely Overshown would miss the entire 2025 season. The Cowboys are now eyeing a mid-to-late 2025 return. The Cowboys open training camp in Oxnard, Calif., on Tuesday. --Field Level Media

Detroit Lions DL Levi Onwuzurike out for season with ACL surgery, coach says; Decker, Paschal injured

Detroit Lions defensive lineman Levi Onwuzurike will miss the 2025 season after having knee surgery, a setback for a franchise that was counting on him to fill in for Alim McNeill. Lions head coach Dan Campbell made the announcement on Sunday morning, just before his team had the NFL's first training camp practice of the year. "Levi's surgery ... it was significant, but it needed to be done." Campbell said. "Out of his control, and it needed to be done." The 27-year-old Onwuzurike started in a career-high 11 games last season, including Detroit's loss to Washington in the divisional round. His playing time increased when McNeill had a season-ending knee injury in December. McNeill, who signed a $97 million, four-year contract extension last October, is out indefinitely. Onwuzurike's injury gives rookie defensive tackle Tyleik Williams a chance to play a significant role when the two-time defending NFC North champions kick off the season Sept. 7 at Green Bay. Detroit drafted the former Ohio State standout with the 28th pick overall in the 2025 NFL draft. Williams accumulated 136 tackles, 27 tackles for losses totaling 97 yards, 11.5 quarterback sacks, 10 pass break-ups and four quarterback hurries during his tenure with the Buckeyes. The Lions will also lean on 31-year-old defensive tackle DJ Reader and newly acquired veteran Roy Lopez, who started 16 games last season for Arizona and has 50 career starts with the Cardinals and Houston Texans. Lions offensive tackle Taylor Decker underwent surgery during the offseason, according to Campbell. He was placed on the physically unable to perform list on Thursday. Campbell said "there's a good chance" he will be back after the Hall of Fame game. "He's good," Campbell said. "He cleaned out the shoulder a little bit, and we're going to work him back in when he's ready to go, get the strength back, but he's in a good place." He added that defensive lineman Josh Paschal underwent knee surgery in the offseason, and will "probably be back" with the team in early September. Paschal was placed on the non-football injury list on Thursday. Note: The above video first aired on June 7, 2025.

Seahawks place Uchenna Nwosu on PUP list

Linebacker Uchenna Nwosu had knee surgery this offseason and he's not ready to pass a physical with the Seahawks yet. The Seahawks announced that Nwosu has been placed on the physically unable to perform list. He won't be able to practice until he comes off the list, but he's on the active version of the list so he can be activated at any point this summer. Seahawks General Manager John Schneider described Nwosu's surgery as a cleanup earlier this offseason, which suggests the team is not expecting him to miss significant time. Nwosu has been limited to 12 games over the last two seasons due to pectoral, knee, and thigh injuries. He had three sacks in those games and he had 9.5 sacks in his last full season.
